My last night in BA

Today was a fantastic (tiring) day. Even though I sat in the bar last night and got to bed pretty late (or early, as the case may be. Early in two senses I suppose. Early, as in it must have been like 3 or 4 AM. And early as in Argentineans don't start partying really until 3 or 4 AM.) I woke up at 6 AM (when most Argentineans are still partying or staggering home). God knows why. (Maybe God really does know why. I should ask.) Before breakfast, I took a walk in the ecological preserve and saw some beautiful birds. After breakfast, I strolled over to Recoleta to see the cemetery. A long, long walk, but I got to see a lot of the city, including the Casa Rosado. The Argentineans definitely are onto something. I mean, white is so blah and gets dirty really easily. Pink is in. There are other beautiful buildings scattered throughout the city.
Recoleta seems to be a wealthier district. At least what I saw of it. Luois Vuitton. Cartier. Need I say more?
Also in Recoleta is an artisan market. The handicrafts were stunning, for the most part. If I could have, I would have bought everything. But I was hot and tired and a jugo de naranja sounded most appealing. Freshly squeezed. Ah, delicious. (If I had the  tool they used to squeeze the oranges I'd be making jugo de naranjas all the time, too. Hmm...business venture? Watch out Rutgers.)
The cemetery was awe-inspiring. Like in New Orleans, everything is above ground. The mausoleums and statues and monuments...it amazed me. It still amazes me. (I am a simple person - just use me as mulch please. Maybe for an apple tree.)
Then, walked all the way back from Recoleta. By that point I was starving. I had a nice leisurely (about 2 hours, when all was said and done, I think) lunch with some other Americans from the hotel. Delicious. But did I expect less? (I was a little nervous the pizza I ordered would come out with ham on it. They tend to just throw ham on things. And advertise it on billboards.)
I checked out the bathtub in the hotel. So wonderful. I needed a hot bath. I'm definitely coming down with the ship sickness. Ugh. By the time I get home I'll be miserable. It's supposed to snow in Jersey later this week anyway. Good, it'll keep me inside.
